Zoe asked me today, out of the blue, if we could put our Christmas tree up. I have been trying not to say NO to everything (she thinks I do) so I thought before answering. Here is what I thought to myself…. "It is Sunday, we aren’t going anywhere, I suppose we could. But I really don’t want to get all those boxes out of the garage. Thanksgiving is around the corner, I should just get ahead. But Thanksgiving is still 1 1/2 weeks away. There is no reason to say no but I kind of want to be lazy." Well, you know how the story ends… I told her we would do it. So I put on Christmas music, emptied the garage of all the Christmas decoration boxes (still weren’t put in the cabinets from last year) and started decorating for Christmas. WHAT HAVE I DONE? I just right this moment realized something that Kristen has always warned me about…. She talks about this light up web that her kids ask her to put up at Halloween every year. She did it once and will never get out of it, as long as her kids live there. Now, I have set myself up for some early Christmas decorating every year. Oh boy!
Here is Zane playing with the nativity set. It is a little Playschool set-perfect for the kids to have.
Yep, I really and truly did put the Christmas tree up! …not decorated but it is out of the box.
So, that is my big news. I did have fun but that tree is heavy.
One side note here; we have always picked out a REAL tree until last year. I think I officially retired from putting lights on a tree so I needed a pre-lit tree. Ya know, my parents thought of this idea MANY MANY years ago when my mom was in a tangled mess of lights every Christmas. They should have moved forward with the idea…
Once again ahead of the game.I think it’s smart….but yes, you may be setting yourself up for BIG expectations. The good thing is they are young enough to be convinced it was the day before Thanksgiving;;)

Sometimes it’s just easier to give in and do it then listen to the whining about it for the next 2 weeks.
