Another crash for Zane

He was fiercely riding his bike today, around and around and around on our patio and crashed into a rock-chin first.  I saw it happen and went to pick him up and saw the blood, lots of blood.  (picture is the best I have)

He was hysterical and resisted my attempts to put pressure on his wound to stop the bleeding.  Remember, I had Gage and Brynn too.  Zoe had just arrived from school and again I wondered how to mothers of many do this?  Tim couldn’t be home for at least one hour due to his location today and I needed to get Zane to the urgent care.  My mom called to ask me a question, it was perfect timing.  We couldn’t hear each other due to the screaming-not just Zane’s but all the children raising their voices for a chance at some attention.  "Mom, I am in desperate need of some help!  Can you come and watch this boat load of kids while I take Zane to the urgent care, I think he needs stitches.  I know you can’t hear me, hold on…  Zane, I am talking to grandma and asking her to come and stay with the other kids while I take you to the Dr. so he can stop the bleeding.  Do you think it is possible to stop crying for a moment or two?"  The crying actually stopped, just for a moment.  I was able to quickly let her know the problem and she sent my dad right over.

Zane, bless his little heart, just wanted to be held and loved.  He wouldn’t talk-just muttered uh-huh, nu-huh. The wait was quite long but that is ok, I just held Zane on my lap and enjoyed the time together.  He was tough and brave, didn’t cry when the Dr was messing with his chin.  I laid on the exam table with him and just rubbed his arms and his chest.  He told me on the way home today, "mom, I a big boy, I tuff and bwave."    chin 013

Yes, Zane you were tough today and quite brave.  My stomach shuttered when I saw your precious little chin-you were more brave than me.  Thanks for holding it together, for my sake!  : )

You wanted doggie (your true companion) when you were first hurt.  Zoe ran for doggie and brought him to you and then you felt bad about getting everything bloody.  You didn’t want to let doggie get bloody so you wouldn’t hold him close.  It was considerate of you.  You even felt bad about the blood on my shirt from holding you.  It really was the least of my concerns but it showed how sweet you are.  No stitches were needed today, just some wonderful glue.  As you can see, doggie made it to the Dr with you and by then, you were holding him closer.

The reward for an eventful afternoon…  Chik-fil-a and some ice cream.
