I started at the very beginning. (that makes me thing of the Do Re Mi song… Let’s start at the very beginning, it’s a very good place to start…) Zoe and I read Genesis-the first few chapters. We stopped often to review and speak English. She wanted to make sure she had all the characters in the play organized and in place.
Zoe: So, Mom… which one was Adam
Me: He was the first man on the earth, remember he was the one that was commanded to NOT partake of the tree of knowledge but he did…
Zoe: But MOM, EVE ate the apple FIRST and then told him to. So, really it wasn’t Adam’s fault (in a lower tone) it was kind of Eve’s fault.
Me: (Totally amazed and realizing that REALLY WAS listening) Zoe wow. You are right, Eve was first.
Zoe: So, it wasn’t kind of Eve’s fault, IT WAS HER FAULT.
Zoe, I love your beautiful mind.
Today, I learned that I feel much better about myself when I eat an apple to satisfy hunger instead of a donut. I learned that miscommunication happens so frequently and so easily via email, it always feels terrible when it happens to you. I am grateful for my children who keep me company and still love to be held and loved. I am so grateful for reminder phone calls! That is a job well worth the expense. I am grateful that my mom considers a playroom when entertaining the thought of a new home. I am grateful for awesome babysitters that clean up my home when they are here. I am grateful for highlighters-they draw attention to the right stuff. I am grateful for those unexpected reimbursement checks that randomly show up in the mail. It is a perfect way to increase my “allowance” for the next 2 weeks. : )
