Doggie is the name, and will be his name forever. Nothing creative, nothing exciting-just Doggie. Doggie was in Zane’s crib since the day he was born. Mo got lots of love from Zoe but Doggie has been Zane’s best little buddy. It used to play music, pull the tail and voila. I pulled the tail and let it play as he fell asleep many moons ago. BUT, many washes later, the music box no longer works. Doggie is missing his eyes, the stitching is coming apart, but Zane doesn’t notice-he loves doggie. I have watched Zane with doggie to try and figure out what it is that keeps him feeling comfort and security. Zane rubs doggie’s ears as he falls asleep. When awake, he sometimes carries doggie around in his mouth by biting his head and just holding him there.
We almost lost doggie a few weeks ago. I realized that I may be attached to Doggie just as much as Zane. I was heart broken that the little blue guy, so worn and tattered may be alone without his best buddy. I was sad that I never had a picture of him so I could remember what Zane treasured-his first treasure. Then, we found him. Phew.
I feel much better now that I have documented such a precious part of my kids’ life!
