The new and improved Zoe

I took a picture of her with her new haircut but there has been one more change.  I had 2 notes from school…  first one, she failed the vision screening.  Second one, she failed again on the screening several weeks later.  I couldn’t imagine that she couldn’t see that well so we had her checked out.  When I told her what we would be doing, she was nervous and assumed the eye doctor was most likely similar to the family doctor offering shots and medicine and body inspections.  I eased her a bit, explaining that the doctor only blows a puff of air in the eye (I didn’t tell her that it drives me crazy) and it wouldn’t hurt.  The eye exam was a bunch of questions about what you could and could not see and what looks better.  She pathetically told me, “Mom, I am bad at those tests.  I can’t see the letters.”  I pictured her trying to hard to give the correct answers at school during the screening but her little eyes just couldn’t see far enough.  Zoe doesn’t like to fail at anything so it frustrated her.

At the exam, I could see what she was doing… squinting.  How did I never notice this before?  Well, she has a new prescription for GLASSES.  She wasn’t keen on the idea at first but quickly decided that she was excited and thrilled to pick out new glasses.  Isn’t it so funny that kids want braces, broken arms with casts to sign, glasses, retainers, etc. until they have them and then the novelty wears off.  We all went through that stage…  newGlasses3Web

As she was climbing in the car for school today (oh, yes… let’s have a moment for fall break being over and kids being back in school… ahhhh!) had to quickly grab a snapshot.  I noticed that she has transitional lenses.  I remembered that I did agree to that.  ; )  I suppose I didn’t think I would really notice but I definitely do!

  1. Lisa,

Zoe looks so grown up with the new haircut and glasses. She looks like a young executive (who's missing teeth). I love her new look.
