more on the complication

I thought about it some more.  I am going to keep it separate even if it means double posting.  Now, if I could only find several hours to build and develop a photog blog that I like.  That is my next goal.  I need a deadline behind it.  I want to add it to my website but I need to like it first.  I need it to have the right look and feel.  So much work, so little time.  This is all stuff to be proactive about, right.  I should know these things.

Another complication.  Being a mother and having “work” to do.  When you mix the two, you find things like paint on the carpet.  That is my latest project… figuring out how to get paint out of the carpet.  Gage came upstairs with an orange finger.  I sent them downstairs to play because they were awfully loud and Brynn was sleeping.  So, up he comes with his orange finger.  I initially thought it was bugars (how do you spell that dang word?  I am too lazy to go on a search for it right now so if you don’t like its current spelling, just pretend like it doesn’t exist or that it is spelled exactly how you would like to see it) or poop-that’s what boys do, right?  Sorry to be so bold, but I had to admit that I did skip a beat when he walks toward me with his finger pointed like it was contaminated.

“What is that?” I calmly asked

“It’s paint.  Can we paint?”  was his innocent reply

“Ummm. It looks like you are already doing that.  Where did you get the paint?”  I was concerned

“Downstairs, in the closet.”

I remembered the closet.  I remembered the top shelf where I stored all the paint and other things that the children were not to be getting in to. I remembered that the closet had a latch, a lock if you will.  So, then I remembered that I should be even more concerned that a locked closet with items from the top shelf were being revealed.

I went quickly, almost like skipping a few stairs here and there, down the stairs to find 4 bottles of open paint.  The primary colors, yellow, red, green and blue (except primary colors are 3.  So they had a bonus).  Maybe they were experimenting with mixing colors to develop a spectrum or colors?

Back up a bit.  I was working so hard, trying to get some documents in place for 2010-Stuff I don’t want to think about, I just want it all in one place and all organized.  It has taken me a long time to think it all through (pricing, printing, etc.).  I was feeling proud that it wasn’t a guilty moment of “work” because Zane had some lively entertainment.  I was getting excited about the moment of completion when Gage arrived with his pointed finger.

It was on Zane’s shorts, on the carpet, on the box of CandyLand-that was probably next on their agenda, and on Gage’s finger of course.

***Insert A big sigh***

These are funny and challenging moments.  Will I be able to get the paint out of the carpet or will it forever be a memory of the day I tried to get something done and ironically created more work for myself?
