I had the awesome experience and blessing of joining the EVMCO today. I’m so excited. I went to their Christmas concert and decided that I needed to bring music back into my life by participating in a choir or taking a music class. I’m happy to say that one of my 2010 goals (on the personal side of life-not business) came to fruition this evening. The level of professionalism was wonderful! I love their high expectations and confidence in our group. He talked about the scriptures that inspired the composing by Brett Stewart and I knew this was exactly where I needed to be. I felt spiritually, mentally and emotionally uplifted. Rehearsals are hard work and they don’t slow down for anybody but the performances are so awesome! The next performance (my first one) will be at the beginning of April at the Mesa Arts Theatre. I auditioned, was invited to join, and rehearsal started 30 minutes later.
When I got home, I called my mom (just like a little school child excited about something) and told her about the choir, told her all about who I ran in to, wanted her to mark her calendar for the concert and she commented on my Patriarchal Blessing-how it states specific things about music. I have remembered that and was so surprised that she did too. My blessing was given to me when I was 14. Anyhow, I’m just filled with excitement and wanted to mark it in my journal. : )
I’m grateful for sacred music. I’m grateful for extremely musically talented people. Where would this world-life be without music? I’m grateful for grandmothers that use email. I’m grateful for clear envelopes, lined paper and water bottles. I’m grateful for spell check (and wish my iPhone would correct my typos in the right way). I’m grateful for loose fitting PJ’s that appear to be more like t-shirts and lounge pants. ; ) I’m grateful for my new homemade time blocking documents-I’m staying on task! I’m grateful for my daughter who is already practicing her negotiating skills. I’m grateful for Christmas breaks that seem to last into spring time. I’m grateful for Advil. I’m grateful for warranties. I’m grateful for Ford trucks. I’m grateful for friends’ birthdays.
To sing is to love and affirm, to fly and soar, to coast into the hearts of the people who listen, to tell them that life is to live, that love is there, that nothing is a promise, but that beauty exists, and must be hunted for and found. ~Joan Baez
Every action we take, everything we do, is either a victory or defeat in the struggle to become what we want to be. ~Anne Byrhhe
Congrats, sis! Not many people can say they have auditioned for something in their adult life, much less being selected!
Posted by Kristie Troy | 08. Jan, 2010, 1:02 pmWow, a comment. Somebody is out there. Thanks Kristie! I suppose that is true. Auditioning seems like a scary thing as an adult considering I haven’t auditioned for anything in many many many years. It was worth it though!
